Diet Diary October 22 2009

By admin | Oct 22, 2009

Up at 5 AM 2 cups of coffee no sugar.

I Weighed in at 221.5 this morning, and am steadily losing weight.  Persistence pays off!  By the middle of next week I hope to weigh less than 220 pounds. As I lose more weight I expect rate of loss to slow down. There is no big secret too how I am doing it.  People who only need to lose ten to twenty pounds should not expect to lose weight as quickly as I have.  I was 75 pounds over weight when I started.  When you are that far over weight the first 10 pounds drop off like a rock.  Then you start to slow down.  I have given myself a year so as not to disappoint myself.  Unrealistic goals, or expectations will ruin your weight loss program.  Stick to you program.  If you make a big slip, move past it and stick to your program.  Stay away from pills and gimmicks.  Remember that things like constant bowel cleansing remove too many electrolytes from your system, and you could just drop dead from heart failure as your heart needs electrolytes.  They make the electricity that keeps your heart beating. If you eat properly your body will eliminate wastes properly in most cases.  If you have a problem consult with your doctor.  Just diet properly and the weight loss will take care of itself.  Be patient and consistent because proper dieting takes time.  I am feeling better and sleeping much better.

Here is my program.  No Alcohol, no fatty fast foods, no sugar, low salt,  keep your calorie intake under 1500 a day, drink lots of water or green tea.  Green tea is better for losing weight, and very healthy.  I drink about two quarts a day. Try to walk at least a mile every day. Two miles is even better.  Walking burns more calories than jogging, or bike riding.  Eat prunes and other fruit to keep things moving through your system.  That is very important.   That’s all there is to it if you are really serious about weight loss.  You should start to feel better almost immediately.

Yesterday was a bonus day, I was out walking and met a neighbor who immediately said, “You lost Weight!”  People are finally starting to notice, and I continually feel much better.

Breakfast    4 prunes, 1/2 banana,  a bowl of Cranberry-Pomegranate Oatmeal and a small glass of milk.

Lunch            A small toasted tuna sandwich,   a small container of yogurt, and a small glass of milk.  Lots of green tea all day.    I stopped to visit my cousin after lunch and he immediately said “You lost weight!”  He made my day!

Dinner           A small piece of meatloaf on a bed of brown rice with some smoke flavored steak sauce on it,  A dish of chopped fresh tomatoes and beats, a small packaged fruit cup and a small oatmeal cookie, a small glass of milk.

I also walked a mile.

I would also like to point something out.   At my age I’m visiting a lot of people in nursing homes.  I noticed a long time ago that the people that are confined to their beds or wheel chairs are always the heavy people.  The older people with the bad hips and knees are almost always the overweight ones except for the injured ex athletes.  Another thing I have noticed is that a lot of obsessive  joggers end up with bad feet, ankles, shins, knees and hips.  Walking is much better for you and even burns more calories.  I have already lost a lot of friends that did not take proper care of themselves.  Overweight and smoking is a deadly combination.  It’s your life, and your choice. It’s never to late for a fresh start as long as you are standing upright!

Keep up the great work!! I know in my case it took me a while to identify my own smoking/weight problems with a junky mentality, or rather a justification of all my bad habits. Once I realized that any step forward no matter how small or insignificant was 180 degrees in a good direction and that giving into my cravings even slighly meant I would probably keep justifying giving in again—I realized I somehow DID have will power :) It’s motivating to see progress, stick with it!!! I WISH YOU HEALTH AND HAPPINESS!!!

    Hi Madison,
Thank you very much for commenting, and also in a positive manner. I received a rather nasty comment this morning, but I think the person doing the commenting is really more angry at them self rather than at me. My program works for me and i’m really not pushing it. I am sharing it.
    Thanks again for commenting,
    Walt
