Barbara asked me how I’m doing it so I will explain. There is really no big secret as any doctor can tell you. First of all, I’m 76 years old, 6′ tall, and started out at 235 lbs last Wednesday. I did it the same way that I stopped smoking In 1998. I just told myself that if I didn’t quit smoking I would die much sooner than I would like. I have not smoked since. It was very difficult for me, but a long choking, suffocating death is even more difficult!

This time it’s my weight. It’s more of a mental attitude than anything else.

  1. I made up my mind, and number one, I stopped all alcohol. If you don’t do that, don’t bother with the rest because you are wasting your time. Also, no sweets, cookies etc.
  2. I count calories – garbage in , garbage out, as they say!

  4. A small sandwich and a yogurt for lunch.
  5. A lean cuisine type TV dinner for dinner because it is exactly the right portion
  6. My Chinese friends have taught me to drink a pot of green tea every day. It cleans out your system and kills cancer cells. It also kills my appetite.
  7. I snack on prunes between meals. I eat as many as I want. Natural laxative foods are very good for you.
  8. Drink lots of fluids. I also drink two cups of coffee every morning.
  9. Keep a record of what you are eating and drinking.
  10. At my size I’m keeping my calorie count under 1500 a day. The internet id loaded with calorie charts.You don’t need pills or laxative to lose weight. You need common sense and will power
  11. 11. Take a good multivitamin every morning.

I have been as heavy as 244, and I have made up my mind to first get under 200 and then to 170. I was 155 with a 30″ waist when I turned 30.
