Up at 5 AM and working, 2 cups of coffee as usual no sugar.

I weighed in at 225 this morning. I gained 2 pounds. It must be water retention because I ate very little yesterday. This happens when you weigh in every day. My weight can fluctuate up and down very easily and quickly.

Breakfast Cereal and bananas, 4 prunes, 1/2 and English muffin and a glass of milk.

Lunch A four inch mini pizza and a cup of green tea.

Dinner A 4 ounce piece of fish on a 1/4 cup of rice, 2 oz fresh tomatoes, 2 oz pickled beets and a small dish of homemade bread pudding.

My waist is going down, I feel better, and I’m sleeping better.

I decided to start this diet, and diet diary after watching an alarming number of my friends and acquaintance die from illnesses that were highly preventable. Most of them were overweight, and many of them were smokers and drinkers. Smoking, drinking and over eating are personal decisions that determine just how long a person will live, and that is all I’m going to say about that. For those of you who do want to lose weight, which is a positive step in the right direction, I offer you this record of my attempts to reduce my weight from 244 pounds to my goal of 170 pounds. I have a loose goal of one year to do this. It took me a lot of years to get to 244 pounds and I think it would be unreasonable for me to expect to lose it all back overnight. When I was thirty I was six feet tall, I weighed 155 pounds and had a thirty inch waist. I’ll never see those numbers again, but I do not think 170 pounds is an unreasonable goal. I’m sorry if it gets boring at times, but there is nothing glamorous about dieting. I will be happy if I can convince one person to successfully lose a significant amount of weight, and I will certainly benefit by this experience myself.
